Go to Symbol

Choose Navigate | Symbol… (⌥⌘O on macOS, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N on Windows/Linux) and start typing a name. The list shows the matching declarations in your project, and Enter opens the one you select.

Listed Not listed
Modules, interfaces, programs, packages, classes, checkers, user-defined primitives (UDPs), functions and tasks — including functions and tasks declared inside modules, packages and classes, and checkers declared inside modules and packages Signals, ports, parameters, variables, class properties and other names inside a scope (use Find Usages or Go to Declaration for those)

The list comes from the IDE’s index, so it appears immediately even in large projects, without opening files.

An out-of-block method body (function void my_class::f()) is listed by its method name. DPI imports, constructors (new) and prototypes without a body (extern, pure virtual) are not listed.

  1. In the sample project, press ⌥⌘O (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N) and type my_driver. The class my_driver from uvm/my_pkg.sv is listed; press Enter to open it.
  2. Do the same with is_done: the function in rtl/counter_pkg.sv is listed.
  3. Type state: nothing from the sample project is listed, because state is a variable, not a symbol.
